I dont know if this is allowed on this group, but here it goes:

Did any of you guys watch the show Mad Mad House (MMH) on the SciFi channel? If so, I'm sure you loved it as much as i did and maybe you were even as obsessed with it as i was. Many people are trying to push for it to come out on DVD. All the fans really miss the show. Please sign the petition contained in the following link to help us get a MMH DVD:

http://www.petitiononline.com/MMH2004/petition.html

Thank you so much, and please pass this on!

2:20 am - rikud community!

gutwoman
Hey everyone,

So I opened a new community for all the dancers out there - Israeli folk dancers, that is! rikud - feel free to join whether you love to dance, used to dance, want to dance or even just like to sit out and listen to the music...

(By the way this is the first community I have managed so if anyone wants to give me warnings/tips/advice about managing a community, I'm all ears)

x-posted a few other relevant places..

I am a 20 year old bisexual female from the state of Indiana in the United States. I receive newletters from the Human Rights Campaign and was recently informed of a bill introduced to the U.S. Congress that would repeal the "don't ask, don't tell" policy currently enforced among homosexuals in the United States Military. Basically, any known homosexual will be prevented from joining the military or discharged from the military simply because they are gay. This new bill, called the Military Readiness Enhancement Act, would do away with "don't ask, don't tell" and institute complete tolerance of homosexuals in the military.

I wrote to my state representative, voicing my opinion on the bill, and asking him to support it. My request was denied. Apparently, my congressman believes that "homosexual activity is prejudicial to the good order and discipline of the armed services. For that reason, [he] oppose[s] any efforts that would allow known homosexuals to enter into or continue service in the military."

Now, I'm not a naive person, and I did not expect miracles. But I do believe that this world is gradually changing. As homosexual, bisexual, and transgender people are being more open about their sexuality, we are starting to be accepted for who and what we are. Change will not happen in a day... it may not even happen in a decade.

However, we need to let our voices be heard now, so that we can start changing the future one person at a time. For this reason, I'm asking you, whoever you are, wherever you're from, and whatever your sexuality is, to write to the United States Congress in support of this bill. It may not be passed and made into law, but at least we will let the U.S. government know that gay, bi, and transgender people everywhere are willing to stand up for their rights.

If you've gotten this far, thank you for reading, and please show your support for all homosexuals in the military by writing a letter today.

dream_sage
This weekend I went to the Gilboa reunion. I had lots of fun and it was so cool to see everyone that I haven’t seen in a while. It was also nice because I missed the first reunion. Below are some of the good pictures I took over the weekend.

10:47 pm - Habonimer in the news

amitay810

Hi everyone!

I live in Pittsburgha and we have this newspaper called the Jewish Chronicle, and this week there was an article on Jewish Oscar nominees. most of you may already know this but i had to post it anyways:

"Mike Leigh, best known for his penetrating working-class drams, was nominated for directing "Vera Drake," focusing on a warmhearted backstreet abortionist. He was a longtime member of Habonim, a labor Zionsist youth movement, and has spoken fondly of his time there."

Just goes to show its a small small world! : )

Hey, could someone with the appropriate technology make one of those '*fill in nouns* is love' banners, but with the semel in every box? because we all know that HDNA is love.

So um i wrote this for my personal journal but i was wondering if any Haboheads could give me advice
*X-posted*

This entry's purpose is to document yet another foray into the world of organized religion. If you know me even the littlest bit you know that my family has religion issues, being that my mom is jewish and my dad is methodist and the only thing they can both agree on when it comes to religion is that they dont want me to be either (jewish or methodist, that is), so as not to hurt either parent's feelings. And no, it doesnt matter what i think, i am just a kid after all.

Anyway, four years ago my mom gets this brilliant idea to send me and my sister to Habonim Dror so we can be "culturized". At first it was weird going to a religious camp *cough* whose religion i did not identify with, but with the onlslaught of jewish friends in middle school and after going to Mosh for a couple of years, i finaly became comfortable with being jewish. So, of course when i mention that i want to start attending Temple services regularly and learn hebrew, not to mention go on MBI, my parents freak. because, as i mentioned earlier, I AM NOT ALLOWED TO FUCKING BE JEWISH.

recently, new developments have been made. Dad decides that i dont like him because i want to be Jewish and not Methodist. He is sad that i will never be able to take part in the christian youth group experiance and insists that Habonim Dror is a cult that excludes all people not born into the "club" of being jewish, and when i defend the organization, he says thats proof that i have been indoctrinated. Apparantly Habonim has brainwashed me to the degree where i cant even see that it is a cult. *shoot me now*

So i tell him, fine. ok. take me to church and i will give it a try. At this point he realizes that i will never accept Jesus and decideds to bring the family to the Universalist Unitarian church downtown, which as far as i can tell, has no official religion anyway. I guess its cool though, i went to a youth group meeting tonigt to appease my Dad and it wasnt so bad. At least they are not shoving it down my throat.

For now, i guess, this is where i am in my life. I am trying to figure out who i am and what i beleive in my heart, and at the same time trying to avoid an all out family war, working very hard to make both parents happy. and if i feel i am jewish, i guess i have to shut up about it and wait untill i move out.
